I'm not dead! I've just been very busy with school and working that I decided that my blog had to be on hiatus. I'm a week away from starting my last semester as a college student I seriously can't wait to graduate and start a real job. Though I've been told by several college graduate friends of mine that the real world sucks I would rather judge that for myself.

For the readers I still have left, I hope you had a great holiday! I will start blogging more! As an addition to daily outfits I'm going to start writing articles on trends. I haven't gone shopping in a very long time in order to save up money for my new apartment. The rent is pretty cheap but I'm literally saving from $0. I know my mom will help me with the rent but I think its time for me to grow up and learn some real responsibilities. From saving money in the past 3 weeks I never realized how much petty cash I would throw around that seriously adds up. Stupid things like coffee and chapstick(I have a real addiction to buying lip things). It is just way too easy for me to spend money on stuff like that because I always have cash on me. I wait tables so I always have cash at handy. Always.

Anyway, the point I'm getting at is that I'm very fond of buying new clothes because I get bored easily. My new objective in my personal style is to create new outfits with what I already have. Unfortunately, I fear that I'm boring my readers but more importantly myself. I know its a little sad to say this but I feel more comfortable when I like what I wear. Its like wearing makeup. For some people it makes them feel better because they are more confident.

Ohhh look at me sounding all materialistic and vain :/

I'm feeling a little lazy today but I really wanted to update my blog. I haven't seen this shirt in so long I almost forgot I had it. I walked into my room last night and it was sitting on my bed. Apparently, its been hiding out in my mom's closet. She decided to clean it out and found it. I don't know who the girl on my shirt is(probably just a random portrait) but I've gotten suggestions such as Michael Jackson, Alice from Alice in Wonderland and Jesus.

I'm not going lie. I always feel weird wearing these cycling shorts as an real shorts. I feel like people think I'm wearing underwear, especially because of the lace. I decided to just own it and brave the awkward stares. I've only ever worn this one other time.

Holy moly, do I need a haircut.

Why yes, I did see Portugal. The Man for the second time in a week span. What can I say? They are an awesome band live and the tickets were free. They played at Webster Hall once again but in the studio section so it was a much smaller show. 100 people tops. I was one of the first few people online so when the doors opened I ran up to the stage. Yeah. Good times.

Portugal. The Man @ Webster Hall 6/3/2011

I had seen Portugal. The Man once before at Governor's Island in NYC, but the experience was not quite as exciting as the show at Webster Hall. Despite the show being free, I had just discovered them and had not learned to love them as much as I do now. I am the type of person that can truly enjoy a concert when I know and love the songs. This time around I was pumped and had bought my tickets three months in advance.

On the day of the show my friends and I left a little later then expected and missed the opening acts. This I was not so concerned about, but I knew it meant the place was already packed, and before I continue let me just say that being 5 feet tall means that it is MANDATORY that I get up front, so I had to really work my way up. The moment we got to will call and got our tickets I grabbed my friends hand and JETTED into the crowd. I made no apologies for those I shoved out of my way.

As if on cue, right at the moment I found my perfect spot, they walked onto the stage and played "How The Leopard Got Its Spots". All that anticipation and energy that I had to bottle inside during the car ride literally escaped as I jumped, waved my hands in air and sang to each and every single song.

They played an amazing set with at least two songs from every studio album including their new one, In The Mountain In The Cloud, which drops on July 19th. The energy of the crowd escalated one song after another, even during "Colors" which has a rather slower feel to it. They covered Etta James’s “I’d Rather Go Blind” which was an interesting choice, adding their own touch to it. The lead singer’s (John Gourley) ability to sing in falsetto definitely helps in making the cover work.

What I love the most about watching Portugal. The Man play live is their continuation into the next song. The band has said in the past that the thing they love the most about playing live is being able to jam.

The different colored lasers that went with the music (and was also a nice touch for my photographs), as well as smoke from the fog machine enhanced the overall mood and environment of the place. One of their encore songs was “Chicago” that has the lyrics “I can’t hear with these clouds in my ears”, and I just remember an overwhelming amount of smoke that blew into the crowd the moment he sang those lyrics. I do not know if that was done on purpose, but I can only hope because I appreciate the little things that are incorporated into a show.

It was not only the band that made the night exciting but also the energy of the crowd. I remember specifically a guy next to me was rocking out to the show and at one point I really looked at him and thought, “this kid is on drugs!” I started looking around me noticed that he was not the only one. At that moment I envied them a little bit but the feeling left as fast as it came. I was a Portugal. The Man show. I did not need drugs. They are as amazing without them.

Overall, Portugal. The Man was worth the sweaty bodies rubbing up against me, and even that asshole who almost mauled me to get up closer when the band was trying to take a picture of the crowd.

Now, I leave you with this note. On Portugal. The Man’s Youtube channel, in their info section they wrote, “We make music and tour, that is all we want to do”. Enough said.

I love rompers. I can't get enough of them. I NEED MORE. I think rompers look awesome for someone my height(5 ft, but recently got a physical and apparently I'm just a smidge under, but I'm going to live a lie and say that I'm 5 ft).

I said a few posts ago that I wanted to grow out my bangs. I'm currently fighting back the urge to trim them because they're going through that awkward phase where its long and annoying and constantly poking me in the eye. DAMN YOU SIDE SWEPT BANGS!!!

I'm going to see my favorite band tonight in the city. PORTUGAL. THE MAN. Yes my favorite band of all time and I'm so excited. I bought these tickets over 2 months ago and I remember when I did I was dreading about how long the wait was going to be. THE DAY IS FINALLY HERE. Yes, I will be coming back with pictures and videos because I'm determined to get to the front of the crowd. I did say I was 5 ft, right?

If you ask me how I would describe my style I probably couldn't give you an answer right away(or maybe not even at all). I follow a few personal fashion blogs and a lot their daily outfits are the same but different, in a way that you can tell that person has a certain style. I envy that so much. I feel like my outfits are all over the place and I'm constantly trying to find "my style". I have decided its because I'm indecisive(read this sentence again, its ironic). Its the very core of my personality and "my style" is a reflection of that. Everything I do is an over-thought decision. From the clothes I pick out in the morning down to the creamer flavor I want in my coffee. I want to try everything and if it were possible I would try to wear everything in my closet too.

Among the sea of belts in my closet this one is the only one I like. A girl came up to me the other day and asked where I bought it, apparently they are back in style because she sees them everywhere. I told her it was from when I was in 5th grade. Who knew I had taste back then?! Ha! Its perfect too because its not too long and there isn't extra belt just hanging off.

That green cardigan is my favorite. Mostly because its my favorite color green. I had a circle scarf from American Apparel in that color but a bit darker but I LOST IT!!!! I spent WEEKS being pissed off about it. It was a gift and it was awesome. Now its in a land of Yvonne's Lost Things among many many other things. I really do wish that was a real place. I'd spend all day in it.

I'm trying to grow out my bangs. I've had side swept bangs since I was 14 and I've been saying it for awhile now, but I really think its time. I don't know why I'm just in the mood for a little change. I'm not sure how I'm liking it though. I keep asking my friends and I don't think they care anymore hahahaha. I'm sorry but hair is a very big deal to me!!

My friends found a pregnant cat at work and it finally had a litter of kittens a month ago and he brought them home. They are absolutely adorable!! These pictures were taken a little bit over a week ago and they've gotten so big since then! I really do wish I wasn't allergic. I NEED them. The way the run and roll over is so so so so so cute. My eyeballs almost exploded from cuteness.

What is this weather lately?? It has been raining on and off for the past week. It so damp and muggy out that I constantly feel disgusting. I just want sunshine! Other then that being home has been awesome. I missed partying with all my friends and I can't wait for recreation day to start so I can get some exercise in! WOOOO KICKBALL!!

I need to do some serious shopping. Its been MONTHS. Legit. I want to get some rompers and skirts for the summer. I have an eye on this floppy hat from target that looks reeeeaaaally cute on me. I want to have it for when I go to the Bahamas in July. I'm so excited. I can't wait to lay on the beach with a Mojito and get a nice little tan. Ahhhh summer :)

Hello blogging world! Yes, I am back and for good. Did you miss me? I had to take a break from blogging because of school and dorm room nonsense. I have to say that I would rather live in shoe box than live in these dorm rooms ever again. They. Fucking. Suck. Which is why I got a house with my 2 girlfriends! I will be moving in the last week of August and I am so excited!!! My own room again! I can cook my own food! Ahhhhhhhhh!! I'm just so excited! I got so many gift cards for Christmas that me and girlfriends went on a shopping spree. I got myself a new winter coat because you can't have too many coats. Christmas was great. There was so much food it was amazing! Now I can't wait for New Year's Eve this Friday!

There was a huge blizzard in New York a couple of days ago. A word of advice when you're snowed in, DON'T EAT. IT DOESN'T CURE BOREDOM. I ate a whole bag of chocolate covered pretzels and while I was eating them I was thinking about what to have for dinner. It was horrible. I hate being snowed in. I have never been so bored in my LIFE.

It feels good to be home. It feels fantastic to not write anymore papers. I went on a few internships for magazines and clothing companies and I think I finally decided on one. I'm excited to start! Hopefully everything goes well and I enjoy it. I'm attempting to go Christmas shopping with my friends today. If I can find a parking spot I think I'll be good to go.

there was a blouse like this in Zara that i wanted over the summer but everytime i saw it i decided against buying it. a few days before halloween my friend found a HUGE thrift store. for real, when i walked in i and i was so over whelmed i didn't know where to start. among many other things i found this blouse! i really love the print.

i think clogs are one of my favorite trends. when i go shopping i never really have trends in mind. sometimes it just seeps into my brain and i buy things without thinking that they are trends. for example leggings, flats ect. but clogs are the one thing i actually saw on blogs and said I NEED THOSE. a little late on the trend wagon but whatever. i wanted Jeffery Campbell clogs but alas they are too expensive. i got the mama clogs from Steve Madden for $30! i didn't even think twice! the baby clogs are actually my mom's(who knew she was fashionable? i went home over Columbus day weekend. you know when you leave home for a while and you come back and your surroundings just feel weird? no? okay maybe it's just me. it happens to be all the time but for some reason this time i didn't feel this way. i don't know what that really means...

ANYWAYS, so the reason i went home was to go see a Glassjaw show in jersey and HOLY SHIT it was AMAZING. my first time seeing them and it was at a small venue so i got real up close and personal. i love the feeling of being at a show. live music is just so much better then stereo. the crowd was just how i imagined it would be and everybody sang along like they should at a GJ show!

i was never a huge Brand New fan except for a few songs, but i personally really really love their latest Album Daisy. so, with that i leave you with the song of the day Vices by Brand New

i bought these shorts leggings(is that what they're called?) from The Pacific Mall in Ontario, CA. they're interesting. i have a pair of cropped leggings like that. i was afraid that they might look like underwear :x i convinced my sister to buy a pair too.

I went to The Pacific Mall where its apparently the biggest Asian mall in North America. The stores were so cute and colorful, very much like the ones in Hong Kong except less crowded.

hello!! after an 8 hour train ride and lugging around my suitcase i have finally settled into my room. i'm currently being housed in a hotel until the new dorms are ready to be used. not exactly a bad deal considering the AC i get to use and the magnificently comfortable bed! my entire floor are all kids from my school. i have met several people my age and i'm still plucking up the courage to knock on a few more doors. so...roommate is good. classes are good. everything is good. for those who is starting school or started school GOOD LUCK :) this weekend is the labor day weekend and i'll be going up to Canada to visit family with my mom and sis. hopefully i'll bring back some nice pictures! xoxo, yvonne

as you can see my camera is a little fucked up and its making it hard for me to post outfits(which is the reason for the lack of updates). i might purchase new lens or maybe i'll just suck it up and work with it. i'm really picky about the pictures i put up.

but besides the fact that my camera is going haywire the other reason i haven't updated as much is because its been a weird month for me. i have some personal issues i'm dealing with that i need to sort out before i leave for school. but i'm not going to write about the difficult things in my life. i like my blog to be happy and about the things i adore. cheesy, i know but i like my things how i like them.

my hounds tooth bag and ripped flats. the bag is from laila rowe and flats are from shi. i've had these shoes for a few years now. they've gotten pretty vintage looking now since they're a bit ripped and ratty.

blue moons have taken over my summer. its my favorite beer. a few of these while watching the sunrise, at a party or a bar. always a blue moon and always with an orange slice.

necklace from target. did i ever mention that i love target? well, i do. the jewelry section is amazing. it has such a great selection of rings and necklaces. nothing cheesy or cheap either. i love it. i recommend going there if you need new accessories without spending too much.

i bought this purse in China. the area where my one of family member lives, its like one giant flea market where people bargain until their faces turn blue. if you simply look at something and just walk away they'll give you a price and keep lowering until you buy it. i could be at the end of the mall and they'll still bargain with me. i honestly don't even know how to handle myself in that situation. i'm the type of person who likes to be left alone when i'm shopping. i even hate going into a store if i'm the only one in it. i've only been there a handful of times so please correct me if i'm wrong or if i'm being ignorant; but this is what i experience every time i go shopping in China.

pocketwatches. i can't look at one without thinking of the white rabbit. i know its so overdone with people loving alice in wonderland, but its something i've always loved since childhood. falling down a rabbit hole to find a whole different world and meeting people who were stranger than me. i was always wanted to be her and simply find myself in a world of my own.

i really need to find a new style where it doesn't involve black mini skirts. i have, like, 4 of them. they're like the new leggings for me. i can't stop wearing them.

i need hair tips asap. i'm also really bad at doing hair. it always just up or down. sometimes i'll be fancy and curl it, but it takes so much TIME. i'd hate to be even more high maintenance than i am now.

i went to governor's island over a week ago to see Portugal. The Man. despite it being a fake beach it was pretty cool. while it started getting darker the palm trees lit up. the sun set was awesome over the city skyline.

hotel room. i was lucky to get the heart in the picture. it just appeared on television while i was playing around with the camera.

check out my swirly designed bracelet. i bought it from a little shop in Paris.

along with the shorter necklace and the 2 rings.

it took me a while to get use to the metro. after i used it a few times it was easy and just like using the subways in new york. montparnasse was the stop where my hotel was.

all i wanted to do was ride around in a vespa. the city also had a bike system all over paris that you could rent off the street. the idea was that it didn't matter where you end up as long as there was the bike rack.

i'm back from my trip to Paris and to all Parisians out there i envy you so much. Paris was beautiful and i seriously couldn't get enough of it. the food was fresh and amazing. the architecture was stunning and the city itself was breathtaking.

i went to most of the famous monuments in the city. i also went to Versailles(which, by the way was my favorite monument after the Eiffel Tower). i visited the Catacombs, Louvre, Napoleon's Tomb, Arc de Triomphe and so much more!

i'd like to live in one of these rooms.

Macarons were delicious. in order, rose, cafe, black current(not my favorite..too sweet), pistachio, raspberry, chocolate, vanilla and i have no idea what the last one is.

summer shoes that i bought from London last summer. a store called Dune. the moment i saw these shoes i fell in love. they were pricey, though. i think they were around 60 pounds? so, 90 US dollars...if i did the math correctly. i remember circling around the store a few times. left, came back, left again and then came back and bought them. that's what i do when i find something i really love but are expensive. i get indecisive...because, well, its expensive, but i always get it in the end. thank god it doesn't happen too often. besides, i was in London! it was reason enough to splurge :)

i really like this shirt. i don't know if you can tell but its a zipper pocket on my boob. yes, it is an actual pocket. i was kind of surprised because it was from a no name brand store that sells cheap clothing. i really hate those jackets where they have the flap for a pocket but no pocket. i mean...wtf is the point in that?

this past week has been really nice weather, but today was cold. let's hope the next week brings sunshine. i'm on spring break.

i bought 2 new pants and a shirt. the bad thing about shopping in the city on a saturday afternoon are the long lines to the dressing rooms and registers.

current favorites at the moment. Polaroid instant camera, beige mini purse and a plaid skirt. the skirt is an old piece from Aeropostale, the 90's to be exact. it was my sisters from high school. wasn't plaid a thing of the 90's or did i just make that up? i just wikipedia-ed 90's fashion and i couldn't find a single thing on plaid.

speaking of 90's. to my fellow American readers, who remembers Rocko's Modern Life? or Rugrats before they grew up? i miss the simplicity of childhood. i remember television shows were how i could tell time. when Full House was on that was when my mom came home from work.

my fleamarket corduroy jacket. i bought it from Hong Kong a few years ago for a few dollars. i'm pretty sure it was only a few dollars otherwise i wouldn't have bought it. the sleeve had a rip in it but i didn't mind. the best part is the fake buttons. okay, not the best part but pretty interesting. that's what you pay for when you shop at fleamarkets in Hong Kong. nothing but bootleg items. hahahahaha.

my internal clock is completely messed up. its doing WONDERS on my little eye baggies.

these are my favorite shoes at the moment. i am wearing them with everything. i bought them from Hamlet's Vintage on Bleecker St.

today, i took a spanish quiz that i thought was going to be hard. while i was taking it i knew for sure i was going to fail. then, we went over it after and found out that it wasn't as hard as i was making it out to be and that i passed. with an A :) i doubt myself way too often.

i want to learn to speak spanish fluently. i work with a lot of people that speak it and when they converse with each other i can catch a few words here and there. i think i'm getting better :)
